FETE DU TOIT DU MONDE

C'est le Toit du Monde qui a lancé la saison 2019.  La fête a en effet eu lieu dès  

le 26 mai.  Nous y étions, bien sûr !

The "Roof of the World" started the season as early as May 26th.  We were there of course !

Beau temps, bonne ambiance colorée et internationale.  De nombreuses animations et des gastronomies de différents pays.

The weather was nice, the atmosphere colorful and international.  Numerous attractions and excellent food from different countries.

Une innovation cette année avec une chorale éphémère qui rassemblait des responsables et membres de diverses associations présentes.  La chanson "La maison bleue"  est interprétée en différentes langues dont le farsi, l'arménien, le comorien entre autres... Succès total !

Something new this year : an "Ephemeral Choir" which gathered members of various associations on the spot.  We sang "The blue house - San Francisco" in different languages, Farsi, Armenian, Comorian among others better known like English and Spanish...A true success !

JOURNEE MONDIALE DES REFUGIES

Depuis 2001, cette journée mondiale a lieu le 20 juin,  dans le but de sensibiliser les populations à la cause des réfugiés dans le monde.  Elle s'avère d'autant plus importante à notre époque où les gouvernements ne semblent pas trouver une solution digne à ce que l'on nomme la "Crise des Migrants".  

Il fut un temps ou tous les êtres humains pouvaient librement circuler sur notre commune planète...

Remise des "Barbelés d'Or" aux pays les moins accueillants,  et du prix de la solidarité au Toit du Monde / "Gold  Barbed Wire" prizes were given to the least welcoming countries and the solidarity prize was awarded to the "Roof of the World" 

The Refugee World Day was created in 2001.  It always takes place on June 20th.  It aims at creating a popular awareness to the cause of the refugees.  It seems of the utmost importance these days as our governments do not seem to be able to find a humane solution to what is currrently known as "The Migrant Crisis".  There was a time when all human beings were free to move around our common planet...

FETE SOLIDAIRE ANNUELLE EW

La 14ème édition de notre Fête Solidaire Annuelle s'est tenue à l'Arche, chez notre Secrétaire, 98, boulevard des Rocs, le dimanche 30 juin.  Chaleur supportable et convivialité habituelle.  Une bonne soixantaine de membres et amis de l'association ont participé activement aux animations proposées.

The 14th edition of our Annual Solidarity Festival took place at our Secretary's home on June 30th.  The heat was bearable and the atmosphere warm as usual.  At least 60 people - members and friends - took an active part in the entertainment

L'après-midi était placée sous le signe de la musique et de la danse.

Music and dance were ever present at the party.

De la musique baroque en guise d'ouverture jouée par 4 musiciens, tous anciens du Conservatoire, pour un public très attentif et touché par un genre musical que tous n'ont pas l'habitude d'entendre fréquemment...(enregistrement malheureusement peu utilisable...)

The 14th edition of our Annual Solidarity Festival took place at our Secretary's home on June 30th.  The heat was bearable and the atmosphere warm as usual.  At least 60 people - members and friends - took an active part in the entertainment.

Baroque music opened the event.  The public was very attentive to a music genre not often listened to by everybody these days... ( recording not up to par, unfortunately).

"Choeur en Spectacles" nous a proposé un répertoire contemporain bien apprécié également.

A few members of a choir from a village outside Poitiers - "Choeur en Spectacles" - offered a modern and lively  repertoire, which was also well appreciated.

Les jeunes femmes du groupe arménien "Hayer de Poitou" ont exécuté plusieurs danses de leur pays.  Nous avons été conquis par leur grâce et la fluidité de leurs mouvements.

A group  of young ladies from Armenia danced for us. We were all amazed by their grace and the fluidity of their gestures.

L'après-midi s'est poursuivie avec le tirage de la tombola, l'apéritif offert par l'association et quelques chansons sur le thème de la solidarité internationale interprétées par notre propre "chorale éphémère". Nous avons chanté, entre autres, "l'Auvergnat" de Brassens et  "Lily" de Pierre Perret.



The afternoon went on with the raffle, the apéritif and a few songs interpreted by volunteers from our own "ephemeral choir" on the theme of international solidarity.  We sang Georges Brassens' "l'Anuvergnat" and Pierre Perret's  "Lily" among others.

Les fonds que nous avons pu récolter iront bien sûr à nos programmes.

Pour rappel : Nous recherchons des parrains et marraines pour que  74 orphelins d'une région très défavorisée du Sud de l'Inde - et qui souffre actuellement d'une terrible sécheresse - puissent être scolarisés, soignés, nourris, etc...(S'adresser à Hélène Heintz Shemwell, 06 23 82 05 42). Merci.


As a reminder : We are still looking for sponsors to provide schooling, health care, food, etc...for 74 orphans from a very poor region in South-East India which is at the moment suffering from a terrible drought. Thank you.
