Nous allons reprendre contact avec l'IUT de Gestion de l'Université de Poitiers début
septembre pour renouveler notre partenariat. L'an dernier, les étudiants de cette formation et nous-mêmes avons
apprécié une collaboration bénéfique pour les deux parties. Les étudiants ont
participé à nos réunions, ont appris ce qu'était une association humanitaire et
se sont efforcés d'utiliser des techniques de vente dans un but non-lucratif. Les
fonds qu'ils ont récoltés ont été affectés, selon leur souhait, à la
rémunération d'une kinésithérapeute pour les enfants handicapés de notre partenaire de Palani (Tamil Nadu). Quant à l'équipe de l'IAE - dont nous
avons beaucoup apprécié le sérieux et l'engagement - leur récolte de fonds a été
affectée, comme ils le désiraient, à la mise en place d'un Système de
Récupération d'Eau Pluviale dans la région de Tuticorin. D'ici fin septembre 2012, nous aurons pris contact avec tous les nouveaux jeunes qui vont encore travailler à nos côtés.

EW espère que vous avez passé un bon

Nous avons, bien sûr, poursuivi nos activités en
juillet et août : contacts maintenus avec nos différents programmes et, en
particulier, demande de subvention auprès du Parlement européen pour un vaste
projet de rénovation des "ooranies" (bassins de rétention d'eau) avec élevage de
poissons dans la région de Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, Inde du Sud, région
dramatiquement privée d'eau ("dry belt"). Ce projet apporterait un revenu aux
habitants et assurerait l'entretien des ooranies.
Quatre membres de EW vient de participer au vide-grenier de Chasseneuil le dimanche 26 août. Une occasion de plus de nous
faire connaître et de partager un moment très convivial.

Dans un avenir très proche, nous allons fêter la rentrée, avec une association soeur, Coeur en Pâte - le samedi 8 septembre à Saint Benoît. Vous êtes tous les bienvenus. Et le dimanche 23 septembre, EW va tenir son stand à la Journée des Associations au parc de Blossac - au sein du village humanitaire. Donc au plaisir de vous revoir très bientôt.

Hello to everyone and here is to hoping that you will have had a joyous summer holiday !
We have been busy over the summer, notably working on a grant request from the European Parliament to help subsidize a major infrastructure restoration project in the Tuticorin "Dry Belt" in South Tamil Nadu, India. EW has already sent off thousands of euros in the form of "seed money" for this project to refurbish the local "ooranies" (fresh-water stockage ponds) and to provide funds for fish-farming in the ooranies of 10 different local villages. We'll keep you posted.
In addition, we have been in close contact with the advisors of the students enrolled in the University of Poitiers Management program. We had 2 groups of such students last year - who worked with us, side by side, to raise awareness and funds for different EW projects - particularly the payment of the salary of the physical therapist working with the handicapped children in Palani, Tamil Nadu. The other group decided that it would like its contribution to be put toward another rain-water harvesting system in South India, and these funds were also disbursed by EW over the summer.
Four EW members just participated in the county's largest swap-meet, in Chasseneuil, on Sunday August 26th. A long day, but lots of fun, and all for a good cause. Now we're looking at a joint participation with our sister association, Coeur en Pâte, at the annual General Assembly to be held in nearby Saint Benoît village on September the 8th. Then, EW will be manning a stand in the "humanitarian village" out at Blossac Park, as the City of Poitiers organizes its bi-annual "Association Day". So looking forward to seeing many of you soon and all the best for the new school-year from everyone at EW.
