Les Lycéens qui travaillent avec EW / EW's High School Partners

          EW s'est engagée dans un partenariat humanitaire avec un groupe de lycéens du Lycée Innovant du Futuroscope. Après être entrés en contact avec Monsieur Eric Bergeron, documentaliste, des membres du bureau se sont rendus au Lycée pour présenter l'association et rencontrer des jeunes de 16 à 18 ans. Un groupe de 16 participants a été constitué par Paul et Charlotte et ils ont créé ensemble le "Soleil Vert".. EW est en contact régulier avec Paul  et Charlotte qui, à notre invitation, participent à nos réunions.

Présentation du groupe: Soleil Vert :

         "Nous sommes 16 élèves (tous niveaux confondus) du Lycée Pilote Innovant International (LP2I) de Jaunay-Clan. Notre groupe nommé "Soleil Vert" prend racine d'un projet scolaire (Activité Complémentaire de Formation) de nature libre.  Nous avons choisi un projet humanitaire.  Notre objectif ?  Produire des conceptions textiles dans le but de les revendre et de reverser l'intégralité de leur valeur à Education-World-86 - qui agit sur tous les continents du globe.   Mais nous voulons également mettre en place différents modes de sensibilisation (affiches, stands, débats) face aux divers problèmes rencontrés dans les pays pauvres.

          Une rencontre avec Monsieur Brutus (un Indien) nous a permis d'une part de participer au projet " Demain la Terre", mais également de recentrer notre projet autour de la thématique plus ciblée du vêtement. En plus de financer une action humanitaire citée précédemment, Notre groupe vise à faire reconnaitre l'utilité et les bienfaits d'une consommation de vêtement responsable, et plus précisément la fabrication textile artisanale à base de tissus usagés ou inutilisés (récupérés suite à des dons, ou dans des organismes tels qu'Emmaüs), afin de redonner à ces derniers une seconde vie; le but étant de lutter contre la surconsommation et le gaspillage textile, méconnue de la population mais qui atteint pourtant des proportions considérables!

Notre travail consiste donc à effectuer des recherches ciblées sur les thèmes suivants: 

I -   Etude de l'origine de nos vêtements: la Chine, pôle de production textile majeur.

II -  Les secondes vies possibles du vêtement.
III - Avantages d'une consommation responsable et de la récupération utile - qui serviront à  organiser et mettre en place les différents modes de sensibilisation.

          Cette sensibilisation vise à faire évoluer les consciences, principalement des jeunes, mais également du grand public français.  Notre travail consiste également en une production textile artisanale à base de matériaux de récupération". 

English-Language Version:

          EW began a humanitarian partnership with the Lycée Innovant du Futuroscope High School in Jaunay-Clan.  First, within the framework of EW outreach, members of our association were contacted to present activities to  a large group of students, ages 16-18, at the request of Mr. Eric Bergeron, the school's librarian. 

         After this, two highly motivated and enthusiastic kids, Charlotte and Paul, came along to the EW Annual Solidarity Festival and then asked our organization to help sponsor them for their official school project, along with 14 other students. EW members have been out to the school for ongoing awareness training, and the teen project leaders have been coming along regularly to all EW meetings since the beginning of the current school year.  We are so pleased to participate in this dynamic exchange !

          Here is the presentation of the students' official project, which has been approved by both EW and by the staff members at the Futuroscope school :

          "There are 16 of us working for EW at the Futuroscope High School.  We decided to name our informal sister association "Soleil Vert", or Green Sun. This project has been created within the framework of our obligatory school project, which is to be an important pedagogical activity over and beyond our "normal" school courses ...  We all decided to sign on for a humanitarian project whose goal is to raise as much money as possible for Education.World, through the creation and sale of recycled textile products, and to help others in our school become more aware of the vital issues EW raises as per North-South inequalities, by school debates, question-and-answer stands,

and informational posters....

          Previously our group members were able to link up with Mr. Augustin Brutus, a friend of EW's who works with "Dalit" women in South India (formerly known as "untouchables"). This led to our decision to work more specifically on the international textile sector - in which South India is, in fact, a leading world player. We would like to foster awareness about the great need to consume textile goods in a highly responsible manner, for mutual benefit.  Since many of our group members are gifted in graphic arts and can sew, we all decided to scout around for used textiles (through donations, trips to the French Goodwill, etc...) so as to give these textiles a "second youth". Our hope is that we will thus be able to contribute to less waste in the textile sector, to limit over-consumption, while raising funds for a very valuable humanitarian association that works in this geographical sector.

          So all of our team members here have been working on the following themes :

I.  The study of the origins of our clothing - the Asian textile market.

II. The possible recycling of all used textile products, so as to give a second life to castoffs

III. A study of the advantages of responsible textile consumption

          We thus hope to be able to heighten awareness amongst students in our own school, but also with all those with whom we are in contact.  And we have so many creative ideas and fun reworking these old fabrics into something new, of beauty, and socially useful ! "
