EW ET L'ENGAGEMENT DES JEUNES

          L'un des volets de la mission que s'est fixée EW est la sensibilisation des gens d'ici aux problèmes Nord-Sud. C'est ainsi qu'au cours des années l'association a organisé des conférences publiques sur le micro-crédit, la gestion sociale de l'eau, le développement durable, a participé aux manifestations locales : Fête du Toit du Monde, Journée des Associations, qui attirent des milliers de personnes, et a organisé, chaque année, sa propre Fête Solidaire où les membres et les amis se rencontrent et enrichissent les discussions autour de nouveaux projets d'aide à nos différents programmes.

           C'est dans ce même esprit de sensibilisation aux difficulté rencontrées par des populations très démunies que notre association est intervenue à multiples reprises dans des établissements scolaires (écoles, collèges et lycées) et au niveau universitaire.

       Le partenariat avec l'IUT-GEA de Poitiers est un bon exemple d'interaction entre EW et de jeunes adultes. Notre association accueille chaque année, et ce depuis 7 ans - un groupe d'étudiants qui, dans le cadre d'un projet tutoré, ont opté pour découvrir ce qu'est l'action humanitaire . Ils s'engagent donc à nos côtés à la fois pour appliquer leurs acquis en matière d'organisation, de publicité, de marketing à une sphère non marchande, et pour comprendre l'esprit et le fonctionnement de notre association, s'associer à nos activités et réunions, et s'efforcer de trouver des moyens pour soutenir finanièrement nos programmes à l'étranger.

           Le "crû" 2015 est particulièrement investi. Les étudiants du groupe forment une équipe soudée,enthousiaste et efficace.

              L'une de leurs premières actions a été la participation à nos côtés au Marché de Noël de Fontaine-le-Comte - petite ville à environ 10 kms de Poitiers, célèbre pour son Abbaye médiévale -  qui attire des milliers de visiteurs venus de toute la Région. Les étudiants on aidé à installer notre stand, à l'animer, ont distribué des tracts expliquant notre action : "Un cadeau de Noël peut être un geste de solidarité".

               Les jeunes ont d'autres projets : vente de confiserie dans les locaux de l'IUT, recherche de sponsors, organisation d'un loto,etc...toujours dans un esprit de sensibilisation, de partage et de soutien aux plus démunis de la planète. Nous leur souhaitons de réussir et de garder cette ouverture aux autres indispensable surtout à notre époque et face aux événements qui nous ont tous accablés durant cette année 2015.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE VERSION

YOUNG PEOPLE'S INVOLVEMENT WITH EW

               One important aspect of EW's missions is to create awareness of North-South problems among general public here in our part of the planet. To reach this goal, many actions have been undertaken over the years :

          - Lectures on microcredit, water management, sustainable development, etc...

              -  Participation in local events : "Roof of the World" (Toit du Monde), "Association Day" festivals which attract thousands of visitors every year from the Poitou area ;

                  -   Creation of our own yearly "Solidarity Festival" where members and friends can exchange ideas and discuss our new international projects ;

                 -   Organization of awareness programs and workshops in primary and secondary schools as well as at University level.

              Our partnership with the University of Poitiers Management Department is a good example of a fruitful interaction between EW and young adults. For the last six years, EW has welcomed and guided a group of students - under their university tutor - who have chosen to discover humanitarian work as part of their curriculum activities. They thus have the opportunity to discover the spirit and goals of our association, to participate in our meetings and activities and to try and find ways of supporting our programs abroad. At the same time, they can apply the management techniques they are learning - organization, publicity, marketing, etc... - to a non-profit organization.

                     The 2015-2016 "batch" is particularly enthusiastic and efficient. One of the first contributions of the students was to participate in the Fontaine-le-Comte - a famous medieval Abbey, about 10 miles away from Poitiers - Christmas Market, very well-known and attended by thousands of visitors from the whole Region. They helped organizing and animating our  stall and handed out flyers inviting people to buy our fair-trade products. "A Christmas gift can be a solidarity gesture".

                  The students have other projects : Selling sweets and chocolates on their Department premises, Finding sponsors, organizing a loto, etc... Always in the same spirit of sharing and helping the most destitute of the planet. We wish them to succeed and keep their eyes open to the world we live in especially in the difficult days we are going through.
